To
a prepared roof deck: Supply
and install 19mm treated timber battens fixed to the roof perimeter, fixed 10mm
below the roof deck to allow roof expansion and vapour egress. Appropriate
Insulation can be incorporated into the roof construction at this stage if required. Supply,
cut to shape and install one layer of 2mm nom FLEX-BASE Specially Prepared Preformed
GRP Sheet, forming all upstands, downturns and incorporating all necessary flashing
detail, lapping all sheets by at least 30mm to form the base layer. Supply
and install water-check and or drip detail preformed GRP roof edge trims, secured
to the previously fixed 19mm treated timber battens. Face fix trims every 300mm
with appropriate colour coded fixings. Laminate
together all preformed base layer and detail using 100mm wide 450gsm Chopped Strand
Glassfibre Mat consolidated in Pre-accelerated Polyester Laminating Resin creating
an intrinsically waterproof single layer structure. At
one square metre intervals create Secret Mobile Negative Wind Lift fixings and
laminate in, using part preformed materials ensuring freedom of joint movement,
and laminate in. Only appropriate non-corrosive fixings suitable for the roof
deck/joists to be used. Wet
lay not less than one further layer of 450gsm Chopped Strand Glassfibre Mat consolidated
in Pre-accelerated Polyester Laminating Resin to the entire roof area with ratios
of Resin to Mat all as per manufacturer's recommendations and allow to cure. To
the newly created construction apply by brush a liberal covering of Pre-accelerated
UV stable Polyester Flowcoat (Gelcoat), Colour to be specified, into which (if
required) broadcast a layer of 6mm clean limestone chippings (or similar) prior
to cure to ensure a good bond. NB:
A range of other finishes may also be considered which may be applied during or
after the Flocoat is cured. Imitation lead roofs can be constructed incorporating
roll mops and flashings. The above specification can be altered to suit the
desired strength/appearance, but the basic principles of an independent roof covering
able to tolerate thermal and structural movement must be adhered to.
| To
a prepared gutter: Ease
cover flashings, closure panels or roof coverings to allow for the installation
of the pre-formed upstand lining. Crop
any bolts protruding into the existing gutter level with the nut to minimise undulation
within the new gutter lining. Insulation
can be incorporated into the gutter at this stage if required. Supply,
cut to shape and install one layer of 2mm nom FLEX-BASE Specially Prepared Preformed
GRP Sheet, forming base, sides, outlets, expansion joints, weir ends and the like
beneath the existing roof covering, lapping all sheets by at least 30mm. The
gutter volume may be increased or extra outlets incorporated at this stage if
required. Laminate together
all joints and detail using 100mm wide 450gsm Chopped Strand Fibreglass Mat consolidated
in Pre-accelerated Polyester Laminating Resin creating an intrinsically waterproof
single layer structure. Into
the newly formed structure introduce a layer of not less than 2mm thick Synthetic
Core material and a further layer of not less than 450gsm Chopped Strand Fibreglass
Mat overlapping the Synthetic Core material by at least 50mm each side, all consolidated
in Pre-accelerated Polyester Laminating Resin with ratios of Resin to Mat all
as per manufacturer's recommendations. Re-dress/secure
cover flashings/roof coverings and the like. To
the newly created lining apply a liberal covering of Pre-accelerated UV stable
Polyester Flocoat (Gelcoat) by brush, lead gray in colour unless otherwise specified. NB:
A range of other finishes may also be considered which may be applied during or
after the Flocoat is cured. A non-slip finish should be considered where regular
access is required. The above specification can be altered to suit the desired
strength/appearance, but the basic principles of an independent gutter lining
able to tolerate thermal and structural movement must be adhered to.
